The rains have arrived in California, easing a four-year drought. Â Brown has turned to green and the miracle of life returns. Â I took this yesterday morning around 7 a.m., heading west with the sun behind me. Â This is a pano of two images, using the Nikon V1 and 32mm lens.
Today I finally sat down to scan some film I had processed awhile ago. Â This is Kodak UltraMax 400, a color film converted to b&w. Â I took this image last year sometime, long before the rains came. Â The moon was half full.
Ever since I can remember, a big pleasure in life is to look at clouds as they drift above. Â Here, in California, where I live, clouds are rare, and thus to be savored even more. Â They come with the rain – sometimes fluffy cumulus towering above the mountains – sometimes thin cirrus drifting at high altitudes.
Having grown up in a land-locked part of the country, the ocean always fascinates me. Â I took this, sitting on a cliff overlooking the great, blue Pacific, on the edge of a continent, on the border of an ocean, thousands of miles east of another continent completely unknown to me.
Isn’t there something just wonderful about flowers in the springtime!
