Desert Sunset – After the Storm

Summer is always a busy time and I really have done very little as far as artwork or painting. Other things seem to be getting in the way. This afternoon I finally had an open spot and painting in gouache seemed simple enough – simple meaning everything was at hand, the clean up is easy, and I rather liked the challenge of a sunset.

Arches HP 140#, 9×12, gouache.

  1. Thanks, Anne! I am not sure if it is all to my liking, but I do think it worked out fairly well.

  2. Thanks, Fraggy! A bit garish, but sometimes that is exactly what a sunset or sunrise can be.

  3. Thanks, tagpipspearl! I am this-way-that-way about the painting but it was fun to do, as well as a challenge.

  4. Thanks, tagpipspearl, for the thoughts about this painting. I find it too busy for my tastes – but I am the one who painted it, and what I saw in my mind vs what happened is different. What I really enjoy is seeing how people react to it and their thoughts. Sunsets like this are usually so transient as the sun drops and catching them at the “perfect” moment is hard. I am lad you find it worth revisiting!
