I live in the middle of suburbia, where scenes such as this do not exist. Â Good? Â Bad? Â Who knows . . . the myriad and mixture of people and activities is so much fun to watch, I could sit here all day, sipping coffee and sneaking a pic or two.

Last week, on a windswept and rainy morning, I ventured forth along the Moonrise Trail. Â My trusty Df and 50mm came along, and in the wind and rain, we took 1000 images (ah, how I love digital! Â so good for excess!), working to create panoramas. Â Success and failure always await. Â So, here is one of a tree . . . more to come!

The Canonet QL17 is a nice, solid rangefinder, which has an “A” for automatic, as well as the capability to be manually set in all areas. Â I shot a roll of Agfa Vista 200, mostly on “A” to see how well it works. Â Overall, I think I may prefer to set my exposure factors manually as a lot of the images were a bit blurry or soft. Â I’ve got some film someplace that may be a bit sharper, shot a year or so ago, that I need to find in order to do some comparisons. Â This was taken in the food area of The Grove in L.A.

Sunday morning we had weather! Like clouds in a normally cloudless sky. Rain. Chilly weather at 72F. And it was heaven.
So, loaded with film and with digital, I walked along the creek, about 50 feet above it on the Moonrise trail. For me, this is a bit of a sketchy trail because it’s a bit treacherous here and there, so always best with a friend. I shot a lot of panos that morning, and took a roll of film, too, with my Canonet QL17. Here is one of the panos of that exquisite morning sky. Click on it a couple of times to see it larger.
Enjoy!
