Variations of a theme …
A Pile of Peppers
A holiday weekend means connecting with others. It also is time to spend making massive amounts of food for the next week or so, or even month – cook it up and freeze it. Here, a pile of ancho chilis waiting to be roasted over a high gas flame, charred and peeled, before joining garlic, onions, tomatillos, herbs, and pork to cook slowly for several hours into a delectable stew.
End of Summer
The temperatures this summer, locally and worldwide, seem to have been – and continue to be – brutal. Finally, nights are cooling down and the day’s highs are 85, not 105, in Fahrenheit (not C fortunately!).
