I love this one, especially since I haven’t done any autumn photography. Beautiful colors and shadows.
Nicely done!
Beautiful.
Thanks, Laura Kate!
Every now and then something works – like photography!! Thanks, Fraggy.
Thanks, Anne! Autumn is my favorite time of year to paint – and see – and photograph!!
I LIKE THE SHADOWS! JUDY
Love the colors in your painting. Were you matching what you saw in nature, or was there some artistic license applied?
Thanks, Laura Kate. The colors are a bit pushed, but certain trees, such as maples, really do get those bright colors. It depends on weather and soil conditions. Bright red and orange leaves exist in nature – something I recall from living in NY in particular. FYI, I used cad red and pyrrole red, along with hansa yellow and some cad lemon. Hooker’s green for a jumping off point, often mixed with burnt sienna and a mixed orange to get the yelowy-orangey-greeny leaves.
Thanks, Judy! Shadows are fun to paint as well as a challenge. I like them as they help define terrain.
Nice choice of pigments. One of my favorite things about painting from nature is the opportunity to experiment with color.
I agree completely, Laura Kate. I am sometimes completely astounded by what happens!
