I really like making panoramas – somehow, the grandeur of things is better expressed in wide views.

I wanted an old photographic quality here – Kodachrome in Alien Skin proved to be good. A few more mods afterward. I like the glow in the windows at the top – it was pretty hard to balance the steps and the lights when shooting in low light – this is iso 6400, f3.2, 1/125. The light is rather – really quite very – noisy – but the steps turned out ok. I suppose I could have done more to get rid of the noise but . . . .

Where I live, trees are not really tall – the climate is too dry. The Olympic Peninsula is lush and green, with soaring trees and abundant undergrowth. Somehow, all the greenery and water feel rather illegal . . .

The Pacific Northwest is a wonderful place. The rain forests are unbelievable to someone like me, from the woods of the Midwest and the chaparral-covered hills of California.

This is on the way to Second Beach, just north and west of Forks, Washington, on the Olympic Peninsula.
