With Autumn upon us, one recalls life and death. With today being Halloween – All Hallow’s Eve – Samhain – the line between the living and dead blows thin. We were in Colorado last week to put to rest the remains of my oldest brother, who passed away last April. He had a hard life after he left home, so he died relatively young. These leaves are part of the oak grove where we laid his ashes. From here, he can see across the plateau to the snow-covered mountains miles away. Be at peace, brother.
I took a 2-hour walk this afternoon. It feels like the beginning of autumn – a bit cooler – and it looks like autumn, too, because the light is losing its intensity as we move away from the sun. I had my FM2n with me, complete with lens and film, but finished the roll. Since I had the phone, I tried a few. VSCO makes great products, for the phone, and for post in LR or PS!
I never tire of the grandeur of trees, and here in SoCal, oaks are the grandest of all!
The twisting branches of oak trees never ceases to amaze me. The bark’s texture is symmetrical and rough, pleasing to the hand. Oak leaves are all different, but still have their odd shapes. Acorns, too, are the same and different. Very grand trees!
