The coastal fog rolls in, sometimes doing nothing but bringing cold and damp and chill to summer. Other times of the year, in fall and winter and into spring, the coastal fog is not fog at all, but lowering clouds. Sometimes you just don’t know.

Life at Low Tide

With ten weeks of summer vacation ahead of me, I went north to Carpinteria, California. I used to live there years ago. There is a beautiful, wide beach that is wonderful at low tide. The morning was foggy – the coastal fog that beleaguers the coast in May (called “May Grey”) and June (called “June Gloom”). Dreary if it were all year round, but nice to visit!
