In Flight
I think this is a crow or raven, soaring out over the Grand Canyon. With the 1 Nikon 70-300mm lens, this was a lucky shot – I saw the bird, but was busy with a film camera – and snatched the V3 and aimed.

A trip to the Santa Barbara Zoo is always a pleasant way to spend a day . . .
Little Friend
The local botanical garden is filled with new growth. Vines, trees, shrubs, bulbs are in bloom. Birds and lizards and coyotes are to be seen, and the squirrels are fatter than fat. I was walking home from my visit when a rustling caught my ear . . . this guy was just bopping around within feet of me, and luckily I could get his portrait before he flew off to explore new territory. This is a Dark-eyed Junco.
The Fourth of Four
This was my favorite of all the pictures I took. I wonder if he is a sparrow, like two of the others were. I’ve posted this picture on flickr, and soon we may know!
