Taken along one of the trails in a local open space, Mount Clef in the distance. You can see how dry it is in SoCal after 5 years of drought. Rain is predicted next week, but I doubt it will show up. Wah.

Little Blue Dots
I’m not really sure what kind of plant this is – maybe a salvia – but it has the most lovely little, blue flowers on it. They sort of got lost in all the bluish-green foliage.
Bag
Another shot from the Trip 35. I take this bag everywhere – to work, to class, to the market, wherever. And it is a pleasantly purple item with room for a laptop, books, papers, clothes, cameras, phones. Here, The Bag rests in the trunk of the car, off on another adventure.
Riparian Spring
A riparian zone or area is the interface between land and a river or stream, per Wikipedia. In California, it is a woodland which is rich in biodiversity, with trees, shrubs, and ferns, along with an abundance of wildlife, such as birds, squirrel, and deer. The creeks they are near sometimes run dry in the summer. The woodlands are a cool retreat from hot summers, but can be burned to a crisp in a severe wildfire. For me, they are a bit of heaven – a space away from the subdivisions and roads of settled California.
Waiting for Rain
Today I finally sat down to scan some film I had processed awhile ago. This is Kodak UltraMax 400, a color film converted to b&w. I took this image last year sometime, long before the rains came. The moon was half full.
