I went to the local park that has a small lake in it, all with the intent to try to capture birds with the V1 and the 70-300mm lens. The lake had a fence around it, and the egrets that nest in the trees were not to be seen. Waterfowl of various waddling varieties were out, as were a flock of pigeons, but I didn’t get too much I liked. People, though, were fun!
This was taken handheld to see how the Nikon 1 70-300mm VR f4.5-5.6 CX lens would do. The lens was extended to 300mm, giving it the equivalent of 810mm.
My handheld technique needs some work; I also need to choose one or multiple focal points (haven’t made that decision yet! gotta practice more!). Also, these bicyclists came out of nowhere, so I’d say I was lucky to get the shots I did.
A rather ugly name for a really pretty plant. Also known as California Cleome. Latin name is Peritoma arborea. I am going to watch the seed pods as they mature, and see if I can grow one in my garden.
The blooms of different flowers is beginning at the local botanical garden, one of the earliest of which is hummingbird sage.
