Rain

After yesterday’s post, and Fraggy’s wish for rain for us, something happened.

The sky is falling. Water is coming down.

Thunder.

Lightning.

RAIN!

Here in my dry neck of the woods, rain in July is a miracle. Thunder and lightning seldom happen. The smell of wet concrete, the pattering of rain on the leaves, the dripping in the eaves, the splotchy sunshine. All this is coming through the studio window this morning.

More than 30 minutes after it started, it is still raining.

Amazing.

Overcast

The last week has been so hot- nearly 100F for several days – and sticky with 9% humidity! Yeah, laugh, but in a dry climate you become so aware of moisture, it’s absurd.

Right now, as I write this, the sky is yellowish with smoke from the nearby forest fires. The entire western US is ready to go up in flames, and when I think of our upcoming road trip, all of which is through the western US, I wonder if anything will be left for us to see.

Thus, an overcast day is just what I would like to see. Rain would be great.

This was taken with the Olympus XA4 and Fuji Pro 400H film.

Yellow

I have no idea what kind of flower this is, but it is strange to see in a field of dried grasses and weeds. Its luxuriant and big – large, fuzzy green leaves and flowers that are about 5 inches across. It’s a viney-like critter.

Camera here is the small and mighty Olympus XA4, Fuji Pro 400H film, and home-scanned using a Pakon 135 NonPlus. Some post.
