Given my recent subject matter – Edward Seago and his paintings of Norfolk, a county in East Anglia, England – I was rather delighted to see this video! Living in California where the comment “some of these buildings are more than 25 years old” is so true and always makes me laugh, historical buildings, and historical paintings from the Saxon era, are wonderful. So, with no further ado:
Very nice, indeed! J
Thanks, Judy! I thought of you guys when I saw it.
Thanks for the video! Lovely little church. The dates say it was built about twenty years after the Norman conquest, but I suppose the local Saxon believers did the paintings.
Glad you liked it, Kathy. I think it is fascinating to see these and other painted surfaces survive time. The Caves of Lascaux come to mind.
I saw the remaining sixth century mosaics in the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul before they were, presumably, covered over again when the church became a mosque rather than a museum. I think Judy saw these also.
