Between Appointments

When you get old, your job, once retired, is to support the medical industrial complex. Our tax dollars are to give us money so we can give them (MIC) money. It’s a really sound, capitalistic plan.

First visit: Dentist.

Second visit: Physical therapy for balance and ambulation to help prevent another broken arm.

Morning and afternoon appointments, with shopping in between. Not a lot of time in between, but enough to watch a video as I drank my coffee and did some ink and watercolor.

Not a really good one, but our trees have some fruit, and how can I not but enjoy the bright orange and greens, all clean and fresh after the rains?

And asparagus from the market. I really do like asparagus, to eat and to draw, and think it also makes a tasty cream soup.

Well, off to PT!

  1. Great asparagus -N! I so understand your having some time between medical appointments. I try not to book for the same day–I just don’t have the energy yet!

  2. I’m thrilled to hear about the PT for balance and ambulation! Well worth the investment of your time, I hope.

My esteemed sister says getting old is not for sissies. I’ll second that. I recently read an online post by a double-lung transplant patient. In the two years after his transplant, he’s spent an average of fifteen hours PER WEEK on medical visits and transportation to and from appointments. He’s grateful for his life and his extra time, but still, it’s a lot.

  3. Thanks, Sienablue! Green is my favorite color, and I am using a set of 48 Schmincke half pan paints here – good variety of greens, and some mixed with blues, oranges, and yellows.

  4. Thanks, Anne. Asparagus is good to eat as well as to draw. As far as appointments, sometimes I have to do that – especially now for all these PT appointments. I have too much going on right now, but c’est la vie. PT will be good, I think, as we are already addressing balance with a couple of exercises which are challenging. Back tomorrow for more . . .

  5. Thanks, Fraggy! Feels good to be drawing and washing again (not the laundry variety . . . )
