Schedules are usually events fit into a time slot, like a dental appointment. An agenda is still something to do, but perhaps a bit more open ended. After working for years in a world regulated by bells and students and patients with exams, I really dislike – or don’t want – scheduling as a daily event. Agendas give a sense of potential – something to do, perhaps a vague something, perhaps a timed something, perhaps a definite something – but there is much less a sense of obligation.
I like agendas better than schedules!
As with most people, I make resolutions for the New Year, and this is one I struggle with quite often. I don’t think I need to schedule time to paint or sew or whatever. I just need time to do it. Thus, this year I have determined that 2024 is The Year of the Agenda.
And what does this mean?
Simply every other day I will change my choice of something to do on alternate days. Visual Art one day and Fiber Art the next day.
Problem solved.
And so, below, some of today’s Visual Art . . . . taken with the Nikon Z 50mm f2.8 Macro lens.

Beautiful. I hope this new method of workflow is a good fit.
I like your idea of agendas. I don’t make resolutions, but I do set intentions. This year my intention is to live in gratitude. So far so good. Today when I was feeling down regarding my healing from the accident, I said to myself I’m living in gratitude. I kept repeating it and eventually the pity party was no longer. Happy New Year -N!
Thanks, Laura Kate! It feels good to me so far. Let’s see how it works.
Aren’t pity parties productive at times!!?? I like your word choice of “intentions” – that sounds good, too. Lately, when I walk to myself, instead of counting 1-2-3-4 as I used to when I was a runner, it is now “toes up, toes up” since I am now a tumbler!
I would call it a plan 😊
We do whatever works -N! I’ve already snapped myself out of a couple of pity parties (They don’t go away.). Gratitude feels much better.
Funny the ideas for the correct term. I like Anne’s “intention” and your “plan” but for me “agenda” seems perfect. Intention implies to me something to be done eventually, and a plan is more like a schedule. Funny how words work for us in different ways. A daily agenda, not a daily schedule, is very appealing! A path, but not a requirement!
😊
