Thanks, Fraggy. Another one converted to b&w, and it is a lot better, too, I agree! The lens was a Nikon 1 70-300, so it is really about 800mm at best. The Nikon 1 system is a 2.7 crop factor.
The mathematics of photography has always been beyond me, so am well impressed with your 2.7 crop factor knowledge!
Fraggy – if this helps – or doesn’t – FWIW – take crop factor and multiply the mm of the lens length = essential length. Example: crop factor is 1.5 (ie the Nikon D7000). Lens is 100mm. Essential lens = 1.5 x 100 = 150mm. 2.,7 x 300 = about 800 – probably 810mm. I worked in x-ray for years, and taught it, so my head is pretty good at guestimating x-ray, and photo, techniques.
