Time to Put on Those Boogie Shoes!

Why?

I quit my job.

I applied for Social Security and my pension.

All the fun should begin on April 1, 2019.

Am I a fool?  Don’t think so after working since I was a teenager.

Time for this old bat to kick up her heels and have a bit more fun.

  1. Woohoo! Enjoy!

Maybe you can work part-time in that nice quilt shop, for fun, and to help people.

  2. Thanks, Katherine!

I don’t think I could work retail – I’m far too snotty. If anything, I could consider ESL as I loved teaching it.

I am so thrilled to have made the decision. It’s like getting married in a way – it changes your live-in relationship when you get married, and now it’s like I’m gonna get paid to play. Sounds good enough to me!

  3. ESL would be nice. But take some time to just enjoy being off for a while!

I have a friend who, last year, got pushed out of a teaching job a few years too early. She’s now working part-time in a Montessori school, where the kids actually want to learn, and enjoying it very much.

  4. I like ESL. They are adults and eager to learn, as well as respectful of the teacher. (Administrators are not, in my school at least.) My retirement pension requires a 6 month absence from working in any situation where an employee can contribute to the retirement fund (PERS and STRS). After that, hours are restricted to 920 / year I think, so part time could be the only way. Meanwhile, time to play!
