What I Saw at Seven

I have been rather out of sorts for the last few weeks. Sorta know why, sorta don’t. Even when I was taking these I felt disgruntled, but looking back on these pictures, I realize I had a truly lovely morning.

  1. Thank you for the photos, have been wanting to walk in hills so much. Felt so good to see wildflowers and oak trees!!! Espec the Mariposa lily and even the non native mustard plant.
Area look like T.O. or NP. SOmetimes too hot, tired and since not a car, not as easy to get places. Found 1 place in bicycling distance that had Ca poppies, Brodia,..and lots of butterflies (Painted Ladies). Sorry to hear you were felling down, and also you figured had a nice morning

  2. Hi Lynn – thanks for the comment. These were all taken at Wildwood, at the end of Avenida de los Arboles. It was so beautiful! I really felt blessed to see them. Today, I went to the local botanical gardens. I took my film camera, not the digital, so I will have to wait to see what I took. I saw swallowtails and monarchs, along with matilija poppies, California poppies, different salvia, and other plants I don’t recognize. Another really great day! Where are you from?

  3. Thank you, Wildwood is a nice area,  the bus doesnt go there ,though does go kinda near the Bot. garden. Had worked there in college when it was just getting set up. Remember taking a break and watching a Kite (hawk like) just hovering over. See a hummingbird out the window now, he seems to be bug catching (is around a spider web).  Really nice Oak trees at the WV center that has Sprouts market. Last time went there, my favorite one to sit and eat under was GOne!!  I want to get a nice easy to carry dig camera , not sure which to pick. Live in next town north, Moorpark.

  4. For a nice digital that is small and versatile, I am glad I got the Nikon 1 V1. I bought it when it was heavily discounted, and like it for the fact it has interchangeable lenses, some expensive, some remarkably inexpensive, as well as the fact it is very small compared to a DSLR. I wonder about your oak tree, if it was diseased or something that warranted it being taken down. There are county laws, and city ones, which do protect them. Sorry to hear about it, though, as I know special trees are always special!

  5. Thanks for the idea, am checking into that camera. It still seems a good price, though on Nikon website, noticed there is also a Nikon 1 J1, J2 and J3, the V1 is a 10.1 and someone mentioned new format , CX. Not sure what that means. The lense size seems small, 10mm,10-30,30-110. Someone complained of small apertures, so not sure how good in low light. I usually take photos of little bugs, flowers, landscape, even chasing butterflies. Only bought 1 camera in last 20yrs., so would be nice to have something more to use. How long do the batteries last?
